CHARLES BRONSON: MARVIN’S CO-STAR AS YOU’VE NEVER SEEN HIM BEFORE!

CHARLES BRONSON!  The name alone conjures up images of messy, macho, movie masculinity. However, at the height of his popularity in the 1970s, Lee Marvin’s frequent co-star did what a lot of superstars would never do in their own country. Fo a large sum of money he did a commerical in Japan — for Bronson it was a men’s cologne called Mandom. You just have to see it to believe it! Oh, and the creepy doorman is ancient movie character actor, Percy Helton. I recenlty discovered that there were print ads, as well…

If you want to know what Marvin thought of Bronson, or the idea of making money on his name with commercials, that can be found in the pages of Lee Marvin: Point Blank. As for the commercial below, there really are no words left to describe this strange bit of  quirkiness. Just enjoy (somehow!) and prepare to have your mind boggled….
